Asda confirmed it had begun consultation with 72 staff based at the EG Group headquarters in Blackburn.
The decision will affect staff working on the Asda Express operation at the head office at Waterside, off Haslingden Road. The company said it was looking to ‘support affected colleagues’ and ‘redeploy as many as possible to suitable vacancies in Asda’s head office in Leeds.’
Staff in Blackburn are set to be working until the end of July or the end of September, according to a worker who said the mood among affected staff was ‘rock bottom’.
