Horrific Murder in Hyderabad: Husband Sets Wife Ablaze in Front of Children
Hyderabad, Telangana – In a shocking case of domestic violence, a 26‑year‑old woman was burned alive by her husband inside their rented home in Tilak Nagar, Nallakunta, in the early hours of December 23, 2025. The brutal attack was witnessed by the couple’s two young children.
The victim, Chityala Triveni, worked as a hotel and housekeeping staffer. She was rushed to Gandhi Hospital with severe burns covering about 95% of her body, but succumbed to her injuries around 4 am despite intensive treatment.
According to police, the accused, K Venkateshwarlu (32), allegedly bought a bottle of petrol from a nearby fuel station late Tuesday night. He returned home while intoxicated, entered the room where Triveni was sleeping and poured the petrol on her before setting her on fire.
Disturbingly, the couple’s children, aged eight and six, were inside the house during the attack. Neighbours said the husband woke his son, showed him the petrol bottle and ominously told him, “Your mother will die today.” He then took the boy outside before committing the crime.
Their daughter woke up to her mother’s screams and the sound of her father fleeing. She ran out of the house and raised the alarm, prompting neighbours to rush in and call the police. The children escaped without physical injuries but are believed to be deeply traumatised by the event.
Triveni’s family told investigators that Venkateshwarlu had been accusing her of infidelity for years and had subjected her to ongoing harassment. The couple originally hailed from Huzurnagar in Suryapet district and had moved to Hyderabad in search of work nearly a decade ago.
The Nallakunta Police arrested Venkateshwarlu and have registered a murder case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He is expected to be produced in court for remand.
