Teenagers Jailed for Brutal Stabbing of 15-Year-Old Boy in Birmingham Park

Birmingham: Three teenagers have been sentenced for a violent attack in which a 15-year-old boy was stabbed eight times in Morris Park, Alum Rock. The attack, captured on CCTV, left the victim with severe injuries requiring life-saving surgery and long-term physical and psychological effects.

The incident occurred on March 7, 2025, at around 8:39 p.m., when the boy was approached in the park and questioned about his local area. He was targeted by the attackers simply for being in what they considered “rival territory.” CCTV footage from a nearby mosque on Clodeshall Road shows Ishfaq Ibrahim, Mohammed Hasan, and a 17-year-old accomplice pinning the boy against a fence, repeatedly punching, kicking, and stabbing him across the back, shoulder, and torso.

Ishfaq Ibrahim, 18, of Edmund Road, Alum Rock, was identified as the most aggressive assailant. He directly stabbed the victim and was sentenced to four years and ten months after pleading guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article.

Mohammed Hasan, 18, of Gowan Road, Alum Rock, received a sentence of four years and five months. In addition to the stabbing, he admitted to possession of a prohibited weapon after being caught with a converted blank-firing gun during a separate police incident in May 2023.

The unnamed 17-year-old accomplice was also sentenced to four years and ten months for wounding. Investigators found Instagram messages on his phone in which he described the Alum Rock area as a “no rules warzone” and admitted that the group had initially planned only to punch the boy, but the attack escalated.

Idris Urfan, 22, of Monk Road, Ward End, acted as the getaway driver, filming the assault on his phone before driving the attackers away. A former bus driver, he was sentenced to 12 months for assisting an offender, having already served most of this time on remand.

The victim required eight hours of surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Nine months later, he still struggles with restricted use of his arm, ongoing nightmares, and anxiety about leaving his home. His father described him as a once “vibrant, smiley boy” who now faces significant physical and emotional challenges.
